2021 ART@Numulgi
ART@Numulgi / September 2021
There was a steady flow of visitors over the weekend to admire, buy and collect quality art from our own local artists: Margot See, Warwick Wright, Cindy Hogan, Jan, Stella, Margaret Dymock, Peter, Grace, Bruce Pringle, Laurie Armstrong, Gloria and Ron Thornbill. The future of art is in good hands with an excellent showing from the young and special talent at ‘Art with Wings’ (thanks Gemma) while Summerland Christian College had an intriguing display of sculptures and paintings from their school art classes. Aside from the incredible scones, lavished in homemade strawberry jam and freshly whipped cream, assortment of tea, freshly brewed coffee all served with a smile – Numulgi Hall had plants at bargain prices ready to plant in the warmer weather. Warwick donated a fabulous collectable artwork for the raffle won by Robyn. Lucky you! Volunteers didn’t need to be rounded up – with just two days to get organised, the call went out and people turned up! An army of willing workers with commitment to the cause and expertise in their calling. It was truly a community event – and a serious outworking of faith on my behalf!!
Numulgi Hall was constructed 102 years ago as an economic stimulus- post WW1 – but the real intention was to create a place for Community. ART@Numulgi 2021 brought our Community together at a time when our spirits needed to be refreshed and lightened. The buzz was palatable and the vibe - fresh and light. A huge thank you to the many Visitors who came and enjoyed; the Artists who showcased their talent and bared their souls; and a massive thank you to those Willing Workers who tirelessly worked from set up to pack up – with endless energy and smiles! We haven’t counted all the coin yet, but we are pretty sure that our little Hall is going to benefit from an upgrade or two from the takings over the weekend. Wahoo! Thank you!
